Running Club

COVID RESTRICTIONS APPLY

What a great start to running club for 2022, with so many new families joining us. Come join us, as we try to virtually run as far around Australia as we can. The CPS students left Perth two weeks ago, and our combined total has us 159km north of Perth.

For new families to Churchlands PS, Running Club is where students run laps around the school earning points for their faction. Exercising in the mornings has many health benefits and is a great way to start the day.

Some benefits include:

  • improved physical and mental energy,
  • a better night’s sleep,
  • help maintain a healthy weight
  • reach your fitness goals,
  • enhance your metabolism.

A reminder that mugs for Milo need to be placed on the table outside the undercover area before 8.15 am. Milo is a reward for the effort put in during running club.

It is encouraged that students need to run at least 4 laps to get a Milo. Turning up late won’t allow enough time to 4 laps done in.

Can you please click on the link and fill in the attached form, so Mr Marshall can organise your QR code card before your first running club. Kids of all ages are welcome to join in the fun, that is Running Club. Remember to bring your QR code to every running club.

Swimming Carnival – Wednesday 23 March

At this stage, the CPS Swimming Carnival in Week 8 will be going ahead. There are a few important things to note, due to the ongoing COVID restrictions that are being applied at the school level. We have been in consultation with Churchlands Senior High School, in regards to what is excepted for us to run our carnival at their facility.

The carnival will be split into two smaller carnivals across the day. A Year 3 & 4 carnival and Year 5 & 6 carnival.

  • Year 3 students will be positioned on one side of the pool and year 4 students on the other side.
  • Students will walk down to CSHS as per usual with the year 5 & 6 students leaving at a later time.
  • No parents will be allowed to attend.

As we are unable to run any time trials in the lead up to the carnival, all races will be timed and overall positions will be determined on the day. There will be 2 competitors in each race from each faction, this will be determined in week 6 during our faction meetings. As safety is paramount when in the water, all students who are level 5 and below will participate in our novelty events; noodle and kickboard races. If you feel your child, who is in one of these levels is capable of competing in a 25m freestyle, 25m backstroke or 25m breaststroke event/s, please contact Mr Marshall at michael.marshall@education.wa.edu.au. All races are over 25m and all points contribute to the overall faction points.

If for any reason we have to postpone, we will look to run the carnival in term 4.

If you have any questions, regarding the swimming carnival, can you please contact Mr Marshall at michael.marshall@education.wa.edu.au.
