Scitech Challenge

Congratulations to our Year 5 & 6 teams who represented Churchlands PS at the Scitech Challenge event for the very first time. It was a great day with students from over 20 different schools coming together to learn about the Design Thinking Process.

Both teams enjoyed the challenge, collaborating to first identify a problem that a partner school was dealing with, then stepping through the process of Design Thinking to produce a range of interesting and varying solutions. Teams were then tasked with making a quick prototype, modelling how their solution would solve the highlighted problem. Finally, the prototypes were peer-assessed, and the favourites were awarded for their effort.

Unfortunately, our team’s designs were not chosen as the winning designs, however being our first outing to the Scitech Challenge, our students contributed effectively and displayed great critical and creative thinking when building their solution. I know their experience will pave the way for our teams at future events.

Well done teams!
