Bonjour from Brest – A Year of Connection and Communication 🗼

Over the past nine months, our Year 6 French students have continued to build their exciting connection with our partner school, La Croix Rouge La Salle in Brest, France. What began as a new initiative in Year 5 has grown into a meaningful exchange, with students regularly sending and receiving both written messages and recorded spoken French messages and reports. 

Throughout the year, students have shown fantastic commitment and enthusiasm as they developed their language skills in a real-world context. From carefully crafted written profiles to thoughtful video messages, they have embraced every opportunity to communicate with their French peers, building both confidence and cultural understanding along the way. 

Most recently, we were delighted to receive a collection of beautiful handmade Easter cards from our French pen pals. These heartfelt messages were a wonderful reminder of the genuine connections that have formed across the distance. 

As the French school year draws to a close in July, we are approaching our final exchanges for this cycle. I would like to congratulate our Year 6 students on their efforts, positivity, and dedication throughout this project. They should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved. 

The exciting news is that this partnership will continue into the new French school year. Our current Year 5 students can look forward to being paired with their own French pen pals around September and beginning their own journey of language learning and international friendship.
