Bonjour from the French Room! 🗼

It has been a busy and exciting start to the term in the French classroom! 

We kicked things off by learning all about the history of La Fête Nationale (Bastille Day) and why it is such an important celebration for the people of France. Each year level joined in the festivities in their own unique way. Our Year 6 students put their engineering skills to the test by building impressive Eiffel Towers using marshmallows and spaghetti, Year 3 students created and decorated their own paper Eiffel Towers, Year 4 students made colourful ‘French’-ship bracelets, and Year 5 students took on a Bastille Day quiz to see just how much they had learnt. 

The winners of our Tour de Churchlands passport draw also cashed in their prize vouchers this week, enjoying a delicious breakfast of chocolat chaud and pain au chocolat before school. Our fantastic Year 6 French Leaders, who did such an incredible job helping to run the event, joined the celebration as a small thank you for all their hard work and enthusiasm. 

Meanwhile, our Year 5 students have been proudly presenting the outstanding endangered animal projects they worked on last term. From detailed research to creative presentations, they have truly impressed us all with their effort and confidence. As always, it has been wonderful to see students embracing every opportunity to learn French while discovering the language, traditions and culture of French-speaking communities around the world. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the term has in store. À bientôt!
