Bonjour! On Friday 21 August, Week 5, our French students from Years 3–6 had the opportunity to showcase their learning in a special French Showcase Assembly.
The audience was taken on a fun journey through the French language, beginning with our Year 3 students, who delighted us with two songs about birthdays, the months of the year and six cheeky elephants balancing on a spider’s web! Our Year 4 students then transformed into secret agents, putting their French knowledge of telling the time and daily routines into action during their Mission Secrète reporting on Monsieur Johnson!
Our Year 5 students became wildlife presenters, sharing their knowledge of endangered animals, including their habitats, diets and the reasons they are at risk. Finally, our Year 6 students took to the stage for a French fashion parade, showcasing their creative new designs for a brand-new Churchlands Primary School uniform!
A very special bravo to our four wonderful French Captains, who did an outstanding job hosting the assembly. They spoke confidently, introduced each performance with enthusiasm and humour, and handled the microphone and transitions like seasoned presenters. They should be very proud of the professionalism they demonstrated on the day.
A huge merci beaucoup to all of the students involved. I am so proud of the time, effort and enthusiasm they put into learning their lines, practising their performances and preparing for the showcase. It was wonderful to see students using French with such confidence, creativity and expression.
Thank you to our fantastic STEAM Captains for helping with the technology behind the scenes, and our wonderful parents for supporting the students in their preparation, from practising at home to helping with costumes and props.
It was a wonderful celebration of French learning and a great reminder that learning another language is about so much more than words. It is about communicating, being creative, learning about the world and, most importantly, having fun!
