The art room is one of the busiest and most vibrant places in the school, filled with young artists exploring ideas, experimenting with materials and discovering their own creative voices.
Every student brings something unique to the space, and I feel tremendous joy in sharing my expertise, enthusiasm and passion for art with them. With the busyness and pace of art lessons, however, some children may occasionally experience frustration, uncertainty or feel bewildered by the many processes happening around them. I understand that every child learns and responds differently, and I do everything I can to help each student feel supported, confident and able to experience the joy of creativity and the diversity of artistic practice. My aim is for the art room to be a place where students feel safe to explore, make mistakes, ask questions and develop their skills at their own pace. I encourage curiosity, perseverance and the confidence to try something new. If your child is feeling confused, uneasy or anxious in the art space, please feel welcome to contact me via email. I would be very happy to make an appointment to discuss any concerns and work together to support your child’s experience in the art room. Twisted Wire Wind Catchers
Artists from room four twisted, spiralled, threaded and wrapped coloured wires around found sticks and attached their botanical clay discs to finish their Wind Catchers. Wow they are so proud of these beautiful bedazzling artworks.Â
Fantastical Flowers
Room Seven explored a wonderful variety of materials, including air-drying clay, paper plates and doilies, pipe cleaners, beads, buttons, and many other magical bits and pieces discovered within the treasure trove of the art storeroom. With imagination leading the way, each young artist transformed these materials into their own mystical, fantastical floral creation. It is astounding to see how wonderfully different each artist’s finished artwork is, with every piece reflecting their individual ideas, creativity and unique artistic voice. Their courage to experiment, confidence to make their own creative choices, and willingness to embrace the unexpected are beautifully evident in these imaginative creations.Â
What a joy it is to see their creativity blossom!
Crazy Birds in ConstructionÂ
Room six have finishing constructing their textured Crazy Birds and they are into the kiln to be fired before they can add the underglaze colours and glaze. The process takes time, but it is worth it.
