21st Annual Cottesloe Exhibition | 6 – 23 MARCH 2026
Today the Year three cohort ventured down to the sea to embrace and explore the first day of the Sculpture by the Sea exhibition on Perth’s iconic, Cottesloe beach. It was a beautiful warm day, but the experience was tremendous as the Churchlands PS students took over the exhibition’s terrain with curiosity and awe.
Thank you to the parents that came along to support this worthwhile and enjoyable event. You are superstars. Without your support events like this would not be possible for our students.
I encourage families to enjoy this free exhibition, that can be seen early in the morning or after school and take a photo of your young artists with their favourite artwork. Bring a printout of the photo or send it to me on email to be printed out so we can add it to our photo wall.
Year Four Remida Workshop 13 March at school
This exciting hands-on incursion supports the Visual Art program and STEM for term one, featuring Form, Engineering and Sculpture. The students will be challenged with problem solving, while creating their own 3D Mini Monster. Following the Reggio-inspired approach and the Design process, the students will be guided by the Remida Artist/facilitator to reuse and upcycle discarded materials while creating their own mini creature. The Churchlands PS artists will be guided, to join and assemble their forms without tape or glue but use attachment techniques like threading and binding. The completed Mini Creatures will be exhibited during Sculpture by the School on Tuesday 24 March to conclude our term one Sculpture by the School Extravaganza.

Tuesday 24 March is our dress up day for Harmony Week as well. so please find time to celebrate, with gratitude, our creative and diverse school community.
Churchland Primary artists, with friends and family, are invited to create a collaborative and individual sculpture to enter our popular People’s Choice award. Students and teachers and parents are encouraged to vote for their favourite artwork with movie ticket prizes to be won.

Art Sparks
The Art Sparks have been very busy with Tuesday Art Club.
We held the first, extremely successful, Pet Rock workshop where we were nearly overwhelmed by the number of budding Pet Rock enthusiasts who eagerly decorated and enjoyed creating their own pet to take home. It was so successful we ran out of rocks and next week we will be holding our second Pet Rock Art Club.

Please make sure your children have an old shirt or comfortable art shirt to protect our cherished school uniform. This can be left at school as it generally is worn in art class once a week.
