Making Magic in Art 🎨

During art at Churchlands Primary, we use the Seesaw app to create an online art folder for your children’s art, as well as their reflections and responses to art. This does not occur every lesson, but it is useful tool to share the Studio learning space. Please ensure your children have the Seesaw app and their iPads or Laptops charged on art day. 

Room four, five and three Judy Watson Printmaking   

Art students have looked at the art of North Queensland Waanyi artist Judy Watson.  

Drawing on the ‘running water’ identity of the Waanyi people, Judy Watson’s practice blends First Nations’ cultural knowledge and custodianship of Country and scientific research that addresses contemporary anxieties about the environment. 

Using a painted hand the young artists printed their hand over the paper space, allowing the blue paint to ebb and flow across their page. More layers of printing will develop the images and share ideas of memory, country and the environment. I can’t wait to see these beauties develop.

Room eleven, twelve and thirteen Organic Gelli Printing 

The artists have explored the technique of Gelli printing different leaves, flowers and grasses. These images are whimsical and deeply revealing of the textures, shapes and details of the vegetation printed. These students layered printing, looked at positive and negative space in their art and how dark and light paint layers work together. This was a very exciting, informative learning space. Enjoy our masterpieces.

Lunchtime Mother’s Day Workshop
