National Reconciliation Week, 27 May to the 3 June
Our focus during art class is National Reconciliation Week, 27 May to the 3 June. This year the Slogan is Bridging Now to Next. The school has registered to complete the 2025 Sea of Hearts Challenge initiated by ‘Connecting the Dots through Culture”. https://www.connectingthedotsthroughculture.com.au/about-us
From their website,
‘Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds, and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. (Words taken from – Reconciliation Australia website.) To be part of this MOVEMENT we ask you to create a Sea of Hearts leading up to and during National Reconciliation Week this year. This week is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will—and must—continue.
Let’s come together to make change, our Future Old People need this now more than ever!’
You and your family can participate and become involved. The more people involved; the more hearts will be in our display:
- You simply draw, decorate and add a skewer stand onto a cardboard heart and include the answer to, “What does reconciliation mean to you?”
- On the morning, add your heart to our Sea of Hearts display at the HASS Reconciliation Assembly on Friday 6 June. Be ready for the Instagram photo opportunity.

Workshops and Art Club
Our Art Sparks Art Captains are enjoying coming up to the Kindy/Pre-Primary area after eating lunch on Mondays with art materials and ideas to encourage artistic fun and antics with the junior artists at Churchlands Primary.

Every second lunch, on the odd weeks, this term they are holding lunchtime Art Club for different year groups for more creative exploration and fun. The event is called out over the PA and the students can opt in if they want to join. Here is a Pic collage of the year one/two students and the year three/four creatives.
