The final day of Term 2 saw the Tour de France make an unexpected detour to Churchlands Primary School, with students from Years 3 to 6 swapping the French countryside for the school oval in our annual Tour de Churchlands!
After learning about the world’s most famous cycling race in their French lessons, students arrived armed with their team passports, complete with maps of France labelled with towns from the official 2026 Tour de France route. Their mission? To work together to conquer five stages, collecting passport stamps along the way.
Each station, named after a stage of this year’s Tour de France, combined a physical challenge with a French language challenge. Once both had been completed, teams earned a stamp in the matching city on their passport before racing off to the next destination. Extra bragging rights (and valuable points!) went to the first three teams to complete each stage.
The oval was filled with plenty of laughter, and fantastic teamwork as students encouraged one another and tackled every challenge with enthusiasm.
A huge merci beaucoup to our amazing French and Faction Captains, who did a fantastic job running each station, demonstrating the activities and checking every French challenge. They were outstanding leaders throughout the morning. Thank you also to our Music Captains for keeping the playlist rolling and the Tour atmosphere alive from start to finish.
The Tour de Churchlands once again proved to be a wonderful celebration of language learning, teamwork and physical activity. Bravo to all our petits coureurs for embracing every challenge with such enthusiasmāwe hope you all enjoy a well-earned holiday!
