Sculpture in the primary school promotes and supports resilience and problem solving, expands creative thinking, provides opportunity to explore materials with a purpose and supports diverse learners with open ended problem/solutions. Â
ReMida with year fourÂ
Year four creatives were challenged and problem solved, while building their Crazy Creature from safe, clean industrial objects. The young artists and engineers recycled and innovated, seeing items in another way and joining the parts using manual techniques, not just glue and tape. Everyone appeared satisfied and excited with the challenge and demonstrated a positive mindset. I felt very proud of our Churchlands creators.Â
Sculpture by the Sea with year threeÂ
Year three adventurers went to Cottesloe Beach to enjoy the first day of the Sculpture by the Sea Exhibition 2026. They were lucky enough to join the hoards of beach goers and interested spectators adding to the hive of excitement, with media reporters interviewing and photographing local celebrities and politicians, while excited nervous exhibiting artists admired their efforts finally installed in the desired location along for shoreline.  I love the opening day of this exhibition.Â
Sculpture by the School ExtravaganzaÂ
Our term of sculptural exploration concluded with our Sculpture by the School Extravaganza. A magnificent, harmonious day with class displays installed around the school gardens and buildings.Â
Twenty-eight students bought in their home-made sculptures to compete in the Sculpture by the School People’s Choice Award. Using our new voting program developed by Isaac Lim, classes cast their votes and the winners were announced. Dylan Corke’s “Lego Vs Mushroom” and Julian Yang’s “Reef” were the proud winners of movie tickets. Congratulations.Â

Every artistic critique builds communication skills, every choice-based artwork strengthens decision-making, and every collaborative activity foster teamwork. Feedback from parent volunteers at Cottesloe, plus from the coordinator from Remida supported these ideas. They were very impressed with CPS artist’s thoughts, intellectual connections and deep understanding of art meaning and message. This makes my heart sing!Â
