Ideas to help reinforce our PBS focuses at home for weeks 3 & 4.
Talk About It
- Ask your child:
“What does it mean to be responsible for your own actions?”
“How can we show we’re proud of someone else’s success?”
- Share your own examples from work or home life to model these values.
Use Positive Reinforcement
Here are some easy ways to encourage and acknowledge positive behaviour:
Responsibility
- Praise effort: “I noticed you packed your bag without being asked—great job taking responsibility!”
- Sticker charts: Track responsible behaviours like completing homework, helping with chores, or resolving conflicts calmly.
- Special privileges: Earn extra playtime or a choice of family activity for consistent responsible behaviour.
Celebrating Others
- Encourage compliments: “That was kind of you to say your sister did a great job!”
- Create a ‘Shout-Out Jar’: Family members write notes celebrating each other’s achievements.
- Model celebration: Celebrate others’ wins with claps, cheers, or a simple “Well done!”
Reflect Together
Use quiet moments to ask:
- “What’s one thing you did today that showed responsibility?”
- “Did you see someone do something great today? How did you respond?”
Model the Behaviour
Children learn best by watching us. Show them how you take ownership of your actions and how you lift others up with kind words and encouragement.
Together, we can build a strong foundation for respectful, responsible, and supportive behaviour—at school and at home. Thank you for being part of this journey
