I am thrilled to share that our Year 5 French students have now officially begun their pen pal exchange with students of La Croix Rouge La Salle in Brest, France!
Last term, students and their families were informed about this exciting new initiative, which offers a unique opportunity for our French learners to practise their French in a real-world context at the same time as forming international friendships.
Students worked hard on preparing their written profiles, which were posted to France last term, and received by our French pen pals just before the holidays. I’m delighted to share that we’ve now received the first video communications from our French partners, and our Year 5 students have started working on their video responses this week.
This project is more than just language learning—it’s about connecting with peers across the world, building confidence, and gaining first-hand insight into life in another country. I’m incredibly proud of how enthusiastically our students have embraced the opportunity, and we look forward to seeing these connections grow over the term.
