The 2025 CPS Science/STEAM Week was celebrated in style this year, with a wonderful blend of curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. Lunchtimes buzzed with energy as students eagerly joined in a variety of activities, the highlight being our Keen2STEAM faction competition. This challenge gave students the chance to step into the shoes of problem-solvers and innovators, working together to tackle hands-on tasks that required them to think critically, communicate clearly, and apply their knowledge across science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The faction format brought an extra layer of excitement, as students proudly represented their teams in a spirited contest of ideas and ingenuity.
Congratulations to the winning teams who will be off to Scitech next term, and a big well done to Curtin for defending their 2024 championship!

Adding further inspiration to the week was a special presentation by Dr Bruce Webber, a renowned ecologist and educator who works with CSIRO and the STEM Professionals in Schools program. Dr Webber captivated students with his talk on the theme “Decoding the Universe – Exploring the unknown with nature’s hidden language,” sparking curiosity about how scientists unlock the mysteries of the natural world – by looking very closely at the amazing way animals communicate.
We are incredibly proud of the creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm our students displayed throughout the week, and we thank Dr Webber, our staff, and our school community for helping to make this celebration such a success.
