Churchlands Primary School Reconciliation Action Plan
In celebration of Reconciliation Week, Churchlands Primary School is proud to share the progress of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) with our whole school community—highlighting the launch of our Vision for Reconciliation and Acknowledgement Statement at our recent assembly, and the submission of our RAP to Reconciliation Australia for review and approval. This dynamic working document reflects our formal commitment to reconciliation, grounded in the core pillars of relationships, respect, and opportunities, and shaped through ongoing review and community feedback.
During Reconciliation Week 2025, our school community came together to deepen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the importance of reconciliation. Students engaged in powerful storytelling experiences and explored the cultural significance of water in Aboriginal traditions through an incursion led by the Water Corporation. Yarning circles provided a meaningful space for students and staff to reflect on what reconciliation means to us personally and collectively. As part of the 2025 Sea of Hearts movement, we created heartfelt messages symbolising unity and hope. Our journey continued through the arts, with students captivated by Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company’s performance of Kaarla Kaatijin—“to understand fire” in Noongar language—offering a rich cultural lens into storytelling and connection to Country. A highlight of the week was the creation of a visual bridge, linking key moments in Australia’s history with our present-day actions and aspirations for a reconciled future.

We take pride in educating students to become change-makers and leaders who contribute to the unity of Australia, driven by principles of reconciliation, understanding, education, and kindness.
