Happy Lunar New Year to all our families celebrating! Whether it be Chinese New Year, Tet, Losar or another celebration, we wish you happiness and prosperity for the year.
Did you see the display in the library with books regarding culture and connection?
Did you hear the music team blast through the school with their clashing and banging sounding like a lion dance?
Did you see the creative drawings and activities that some classes have done regarding the Year of the Horse?
Did you hear the staff had a delicious morning tea and discussed their Chinese zodiac animals?
We are also sending warm wishes to families observing Ramadan. Also, bright wishes for the families celebrating Holi soon as well. Please let me know if there’s other special celebrations for your culture. We love hearing about how our families celebrate their culture and share these stories with their classmates.
Letters were sent home this week to eligible PP-year 6 students regarding inclusion on our EALD student census. Some families are keen to further support their children at home with their language skills. One of the most important strategies you can apply is to read with your children. It is beneficial for the child to read in English aloud to you (or you can read to them in either English or your home language), then together you can discuss the story and pictures to build comprehension skills and a bank of vocabulary. Reading everyday not only increases skills but is valuable time spent together.
