The start to term 3 has been busy in the library and it is wonderful to see so many students enjoying the space, especially on cold winter days.
We’re very excited to be celebrating Children’s Book Week in Week 5 (Monday 18 – Friday 22 August), alongside schools and libraries all across Australia. This year marks a special milestone, as the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) is celebrating 80 years of inspiring young readers!
The 2025 theme is “Book an Adventure!”, encouraging children to dive into stories that take them on magical, wild, and wonderful journeys. The beautiful artwork for this year’s theme was created by Australian author and illustrator Jess McGeachin, and it invites us all to explore the places books can take us—whether it’s deep into a forest, out to sea, or even into outer space!
Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing special stories, enjoying classroom activities, and celebrating the CBCA’s shortlisted books. Students will have the chance to explore their own reading adventures and discover new favourites along the way.
🎭 Dress-Up Parade – Friday 22 August
To finish the week, we’ll be holding a fun Book Character Dress-Up Parade on Friday 22 August. Students are invited to come to school dressed as a character from a book they love—whether it’s an explorer, a fairy-tale hero, a funny animal, or anyone from their favourite story. We can’t wait to see the creativity and joy this brings to the school!
More information about Book Week activities will be sent home soon, but for now, feel free to start chatting with your child about costume ideas and the adventures they’d love to go on through books.

Premier’s Reading Challenge
We’re so proud to share that our school has successfully completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge for 2025, with a grand total of 2,719 books read by our enthusiastic readers! This is a wonderful achievement that shows our students’ dedication, curiosity, and love for reading. A big congratulations to everyone who took part in the challenge! Certificates will be handed out soon to those who completed the challenge – well done to all our super readers!
