We have had a wonderful start to the year in the Library! It has been fantastic to see so much enthusiasm for reading across all year groups.
You may have noticed the new artwork displayed outside the Library – a handprint inside a heart. This piece was inspired by the book Place Hand Here, written and illustrated by Katie Yamasaki. The story shares a gentle and meaningful message about connection: when you place your hand inside the printed hand, it is a way of feeling close to someone you may be missing. The artwork is a simple but powerful reminder that even when people are not physically with us, we can still feel connected to them through love, memory, and shared moments.
We are also excited to introduce our new Library pets – stick insects! The children have been fascinated learning about how they camouflage themselves and how to care for them responsibly. They have already become a popular and much-loved addition to our Library space.
Parents and carers, please support your child in remembering to bring all of their library books, in their library bags, on their allocated library day each week. Having their books with them allows them to return, renew, and borrow new titles without missing out.
We are also excited to share that Library Officer application forms will be sent out in Week 4. This opportunity is open to Year 5 and Year 6 students who are responsible, enthusiastic about reading, and keen to help in the Library. Library Officer positions provide students with a wonderful sense of ownership within the school community and help foster responsibility, leadership skills, and a strong sense of purpose. We look forward to receiving their applications!
