This is an incredible resource for the families of Churchlands PS. The picture books are written in English as well as another language. There are stories in Afrikaans, Arabic, Auslan, Bengali, Cantonese, Chinese, Croatian, Dari, Dzongkha, Farsi, French, German, Gujarati, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malayalam, Marathi, Mandarin, Maori, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Serbian, Somali, Spanish, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Vietnamese and Xhosa. I’m ordering some Swedish books too. Would you like to read some books in your home language? Let me know so I can add some books to my next order. Reading and speaking in both English and your home language is valued. Parents, it is important for your child to keep building on vocabulary and comprehension skills in your home language, so keep asking questions and discussing stories and pictures with your children. Start looking carefully at the characters in the books you are reading. You might find an idea for the Book Week dress up day on Friday 22nd August! We encourage all students of Churchlands PS to join in the fun and dress up as a book character for our Book Week celebrations.
