CHICKEN NEWS

A big thank you to Natalie Britz who has worked behind the scenes to ensure our chickens are fed over the weekends and during the school holidays. This is Natalie’s last year at the school (Kyle, her son will be moving to high school in 2022) so we are looking for a NEW person to take over the chicken roster. Please contact Mrs Samsa in room 5 if you are interested in taking this on for 2022.  If you would like to know more about the role, please contact the school office on 9253 9450.

SOLAR BUDDY

In line with our sustainability value of GIVING, year 5 students each participated in making a solar buddy light on Tuesday. The solar buddies are sent to a third world country to assist children fighting energy poverty. Evidence has shown that students that have a solar light are completing their homework and improving their reading skills at an improved rate of 85%. Thank you to the Lions Club of Cambridge, Lions Club of North Beach and Mrs Maureen Schoch for their generous donations to the solar buddy project.  The student councillors decided to donate the money raised from the free dress last week to Solar Buddy 2022. Thank you CPS students for wanting to make a difference to those less fortunate than yourselves.

FROG HABITAT UPDATE

The frog habitat is progressing nicely. We are very thankful to SERCUL who have assisted us in providing plants for our frog area.

SERCUL provided these plants to our school as part of the Phosphorus Awareness Project grant it receives from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), which aims to educate the community about the environmental impacts of too many nutrients entering our waterways”.
