The Dads and Kids Camp Out on 16-17 November was epic and over 100 families participated. The school oval became an overnight campsite, set up with tents and even a few swags.
This was the third annual Camp Out and again it proved to be a well-supported school community event, and all year groups were well represented. Almost 40 children came from the Kindy or PP classes, which was fantastic!
The scorching temperatures didn’t stop the fun and a water bomb fight on Saturday afternoon cooled everyone down before the sea breeze came in. Talented magician, Pierre Ulrich, was a surprise visitor and put on a spectacular show in the undercover assembly area. His tricks were amazing.
Food Trucks provided tasty dinner options and families mingled while tucking into Argentinian and Thai cuisine, as well as ice creams for dessert. Once the sun set children grabbed torches and head lamps for the Treasure Hunt, which saw them work in teams solving clues and challenges.
Despite it being a late night for most, the children still managed to wake up VERY early … so the Coffee Van was a welcome sight for the Dads on Sunday morning! A yummy breakfast of Egg and Bacon Rolls was cooked and served by members from the Lions Club of North Perth. They have been supporting our Camp Out for the past three years, and we are very grateful for their continued involvement. Thank you.
A big shout out of thanks goes to the team at Woolworths Floreat for their ongoing support and generous donation of breakfast provisions and miscellaneous supplies.
Crust Pizza Innaloo, Woodlands Fish and Chips and 3 Sheets in Woodlands also got behind the Camp Out and kindly donated voucher prizes for the Treasure Hunt.
The Camp Out doesn’t happen without months of planning behind the scenes. Thank you to the school’s administration for assistance, and especially to Maree Brady. Thanks also to Cath Tonkin, P and C Treasurer, for managing registrations and payments.
And finally a BIG round of applause to the DUCKs and this year’s Camp Out Committee members: Grant Allen, George Aslanis, Lex Brickland, Hamish Buddle, Brenton Downing, Hamish McLaughlin, Leon Normore, Matt Rainbow, Daniel Romano, Mark Swan and Luke Vanson as well as the many Dads who took on special roles to help on the day.
