PE News – Term 4 Week 5

Interschool Tennis Carnival – FRIDAY 3 NOVEMBER– Red Ball Smash

For the second time CPS participated in the Red Ball Smash Interschool Competition, at City Beach Tennis Club.  The event was run by Tennis WA, and the focus of the event was about participation and having fun in a tennis context.  Churchlands sent 4 teams of 8 participates, of year 3 and 4 students, and by all accounts, everyone came away having heaps of fun.  Over the five rounds of matches played, I witnessed a huge improvement in everyone’s tennis play.  Congratulations to Churchlands Team 3, who were runners-up on the day for their outstanding tennis play.  With this event becoming an annual fixture on our school calendar, we are hoping to see more kids enjoying some tennis over the warmer months.

Running Club – ONLY 4 WEEKS TO GO!!!!

The last running club for 2023 will be on Wednesday 6 December (week 9).

Running club is on Wednesday mornings starting at 8:10am. For new families to Churchlands PS, running club is where students run laps around the school earning points for their faction. Exercising in the mornings has many health benefits and is a great way to start the day.

Some benefits include:

  • improved physical and mental energy,
  • a better night’s sleep,
  • reach your fitness goals,
  • enhance your metabolism.

A reminder that mugs for Milo need to be placed on the table outside the undercover area before 8.25am.  Milo is a reward for the effort put in during running club.

It is encouraged that students need to run at least 5 laps to get a Milo. Turning up late won’t allow enough time to do 5 laps.
